The CAJ board of directors has extended the deadline for nominations of our open board positions. The new deadline is Wednesday, August 3, at 5:00 p.m. (ET).

Do you want to help improve Canadian journalism? If so, join us!

The CAJ board of directors is in need of representatives in Saskatchewan, Quebec and Toronto. We’re looking for people who are passionate about journalism and want to help our organization support journalists and advocate for their rights.

Board members help free jailed journalists, fight for reporters’ rights nationwide, run Canada’s largest media diversity survey, offer mentorship to hundreds of young journalists, create unforgettable in-person conferences, run the country’s best media awards program, and so much more.

As the board member for these areas, you will be the main CAJ contact person for journalists in the region. Volunteers must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per month. Candidates must live in the region they would be representing.

If you are interested in this volunteer position, please send us a brief bio (no more than 250 words) and explanation of why you want this position to admin@caj.ca.

Per the CAJ bylaws, the position is open to all Class A members in good standing. The Saskatchewan and Quebec seats are for two-year appointments with the possibility of renewal. The Toronto seat is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The ideal candidates will be available to attend the CAJ’s upcoming in-person board meeting in Toronto during one weekend this October (transit and accommodation will be covered by the CAJ).

The Canadian Association of Journalists is a professional organization with more than 1,200 members across Canada. The CAJ’s primary roles are public-interest advocacy work and professional development for its members.
