CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: CAJ POST-SECONDARY INTERNSHIP JANUARY 2021

The Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) is recruiting a post-secondary student to work as an intern beginning January 2021. The intern will work collaboratively with the CAJ’s board of directors, its members, and other journalists.

The internship will run from January 11, 2021- April 9, 2021 and offers an opportunity to connect with journalists across the country while gaining insights into advocacy and professional development work done by the CAJ.

This opportunity is open exclusively to post-secondary students who can use the internship program for academic credit. If you do not qualify for the internship but are interested in volunteering with the CAJ please send us an email

Duties include:

  • Assisting the CAJ board of directors to review and process submissions to the 2020 Canadian Newsroom Diversity Survey.

  • Working closely with the CAJ's Community Manager to design images and draft weekly copy for social media and newsletters.

  • Contribute to the process of vetting awards submissions for jury review.

  • Assisting with research for select board committees.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

The ability to speak and write in French is an asset.

Most of the work will be done remotely since the CAJ's board members are spread out across the country and we don’t have a main office.

We offer a small honorarium ($500), a free one-year CAJ membership, free access to CAJ professional development events and a CAJ membership card.

Applicants are to submit a one-page letter of interest, a copy of their CV, and up to three published pieces. Please send all inquiries and applications to [email protected] with the subject line 'CAJ internship January 2021’.

Internship applications will be accepted until December 9 at 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).

The Canadian Association of Journalists is a professional organization with more than 700 members across Canada. The CAJ's primary roles are public-interest advocacy work and professional development for its members.
