February 2019

Dear CAJ'ers,

At the start of 2019 we launched a new cash fund to help support professional development for local CAJ chapters. We are thrilled to present the first event in that series: Long- and short-form feature writing with Jana Pruden.

In this newsletter you will hear more about how to receive funding for journalism events in your region. You will also hear about why volunteering for a CAJ national conference is the BEST and why you should become a volunteer now (please). Plus we've got the scoop on upcoming journo events, job postings, fellowships and more!

Thanks for tuning in,

—The CAJ team

CAJ Halifax presents a special writing workshop with Jana Pruden. Pruden is a member of the Globe and Mail’s feature writing team and will be sharing her knowledge with local CAJ members and other interested attendees on March 9.

CAJ members have exclusive free access to event registration until Feb. 10, after which attendance will be open to the general public for $20 per session.

Register here.

This event is brought to you by the CAJ's Local Chapter Initiatives Fund. Learn about how you can bring journalism training to your region here.

The CAJ is looking for volunteers to help out with our national journalism conference taking place May 3-5 in downtown Winnipeg.

Each year, the conference brings together journalists from across the country for two days of professional development workshops and panel discussions - not to mention a healthy dose of networking and making friends!

Volunteers help with everything from speaker outreach to delegate registration. Are you able to lend a hand? Please send a note to [email protected]

The conference team has an open call for feedback on workshop and speaker selection. Now is your time to have a say! Take this 5-minute survey. Or drop a line to [email protected].

You can check out last year’s conference offerings over here.
