The CAJ board of directors is seeking journalists in Vancouver that may be interested in starting a local chapter of CAJ members. There are now over 50 journalists in the Metro Vancouver area holding active CAJ membership. As such, the area qualifies to have one member sit on the CAJ’s board of directors.

New chapters are eligible to receive up to $500 in seed funding to start chapter events and networking. These funds may be used for things like skills-development workshops; panel events; food and accommodations for out-of-town speakers; printing fees, and so on. The CAJ also offers a Local Chapters Initiatives Fund that provides additional resources to local chapters.

At least three people are needed to form a local chapter: a president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer. Click here for more information on chapter formation.

If you are interested in starting a local CAJ chapter for the Metro Vancouver area, please send an email to [email protected] with a note about yourself and why you wish to get involved.

The Canadian Association of Journalists is a professional organization with more than 700 members across Canada. The CAJ's primary roles are public-interest advocacy work and professional development for its members.
