The CAJ’s largest annual event is our national conference, traditionally held in May or June. This two-and-a-half-day conference offers noteworthy keynote speakers, diverse skills workshops and panel discussions on issues facing journalists and journalism.

After all sessions wrap up, we hold our awards gala dinner on the Saturday evening at the conference to celebrate the annual CAJ Awards of Excellence. Winners in each category are announced during the banquet, as is the winner of the CAJ Charles Bury Award for ourstanding contributions to the CAJ and/or journalisms in Canada. The evening concludes with the presentation of the Don McGillivray Award for the most outstanding investigative journalism of the previous year, chosen from among the night's winners of all investigative journalism categories.

The conference closes on Sunday morning with the CAJ's annual general meeting, where newly elected members of the CAJ's national board of directors are announced.

The CAJ sometimes has held other national events through the years; information on those is also posted in this section. CAJ chapters also hold regular events. For more information on those, please visit individual chapter pages.
